The ‘Key to Bordeaux’ is a holiday apartment with a view over the ‘fairytale castle’ of Porte Cailhau. The apartment is ideally located in a pedestrian-only area. It’s just one street back from the river and a few minutes walk from the famous Place de la Bourse. The apartment is 80 square meters and can accommodate 2 – 6 guests. The major sights of Bordeaux can be reached on foot, or there is a tram stop nearby.

An unusually spacious two-bedroom holiday apartment (80 square metres), The Key to Bordeaux is situated in the historic heart of Bordeaux. The apartment is on a quiet street, just one street back from the river and the linear park that runs along it. There are many wonderful restaurants, bistros, bars, cafes, specialist shops and small boutiques in the surrounding streets. There is a king-size bed in the main bedroom. This bedroom also has a day bed which folds out to become a double bed. The second bedroom has two single beds. There is a baby cot on request.

Amenities include an elevator, Fibre Optic Wifi, a washing machine, a well-equipped kitchen and a newly renovated bathroom with a separate toilet.  The kitchen has a dishwasher, a cooktop with two elements, a microwave and a washing machine in the newly renovated bathroom. Store cupboard basics are provided, as well as soap and tissues, a hairdryer and other amenities. The apartment has high-speed Fibre Optic Wifi and Cable TV with English and French channels.

It is rare to find a spacious, two-bedroom apartment that is so centrally located. Parking is available at a choice of parking stations a few minutes walk away.

The Neighbourhood

The Key to Bordeaux is an ideal base for sightseeing. It is close to Place de la Bourse, the river, restaurants, shops, public transport and parking. Around the corner are several restaurants, an excellent wine merchant and a small supermarket. In the surrounding area, open-air food markets and antique markets are held weekly. Rue St Catherine – the longest pedestrian shopping street in Europe is nearby. Museums, art galleries and the famous Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux are only a short walk away. To reach other areas in the city, you need only walk for a couple of minutes to the tram stop, and the line will take you to the main train station and many other significant locations in the city.

Further afield you can visit famous vineyards, elegant châteaux, pretty villages and the beautiful beaches surrounding the Bay of Arcachon.

• There are wooden floors, and if your children decide to have a jumping competition, you may get a visit from the downstairs neighbour.

Our friendly and efficient English and French-speaking property manager meets and greets our guests. She can make suggestions about local attractions and places to eat and is available by phone for any queries or maintenance issues.

Four bottles of wine are available on a use-and-replace basis, so you can enjoy a drink when you arrive. There is a House Book in the apartment, with useful contacts, such as doctors and dentists, plus restaurant and sightseeing suggestions.
