Maison Domme, a charming holiday home in the Dordogne, France

There is the option of an additional sofa bed on the top floor to sleep an extra guest (on request and at an additional cost of €250 per week). In the private garden are many fruit trees and flowers. Take a dip in the private pool and cap the day off with local wine and delicacies from the village shops, a 5 minute walk away, on your private terrace shaded by grapevines.

The Neighbourhood
Maison de Domme is located in the village and is a short walk from shops and restaurants. There is a farmer’s market on Thursdays. Black truffles and foie gras are specialities of the region.
Dating from 1283, Domme is on the Dordogne river, eight kilometres south of Sarlat. It’s listed as “one of the most beautiful villages of France”. The hilltop location gives it extraordinary views over the river and the surrounding valley.
The Porte des Tours is the entrance to the wonderful old town. You can walk the narrow streets and see many excellent examples of medieval architecture. They include colombage (half-timber) buildings, steep perigordine roofs and small turrets. Especially worth seeing are the market hall and square, and the the Maison du batteur de monnaie du Roy, where money was minted in the Middle Ages. It’s now an attractive cafe.
If you are looking for a gourmet meal, the restaurant L’Esplanade has a view over the river, and a Michelin star menu to match. The gourmet fare and service are both exemplary.
Domme hosts many cultural activities during the year, including the off-season. There are also outdoor activities in the area including kayaking, hiking and cycling.
