The Florence Duomo is a must, but be sure to visit first thing in the morning in order to avoid the crowds. If you plan to join a tour, check that it has “skip-the-line” access and that it includes the church, baptistery, bell tower, dome, and museum.
Allow yourself plenty of time to absorb the extraordinary art in the Uffizi and Accademia galleries.
For a more relaxed experience take a stroll from the Ponte Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria to the quiet lanes of the Oltrarno. Head to the Piazzale Michelangelo on foot or bike, to watch the sun set over the water.
